» Cabarrus College Math Admissions Requirements Change

The math requirement for admissions to all Cabarrus College of Health Sciences programs will change beginning with the Fall 2008 semester. This change reflects the level of math skill required for students to successfully complete the degree programs and enter their chosen profession.
Admission to the bachelors completion programs, which includes the health services management, BSN, and medical imaging degree programs will require completion of high school or equivalent algebra I, algebra, II, geometry and an additional math with algebra II as a prerequisite.

The clinical associate degree programs in medical assistant, nursing, occupational therapy assistant and surgical technology, as well as the pre-professional associate in science degree will require high school or equivalent algebra I, algebra II, and either geometry or a math with algebra II as a prerequisite.
The one year diploma programs in medical assistant and surgical technology will require completion of high school or equivalent algebra I, and either algebra II or geometry.

“The new math requirements are in response to the changing knowledge demands in the healthcare workplace. We are committed to insuring that our graduates are prepared for successful careers and this change is another step in that direction.” said Tom Connelly, dean for academic and student services at Cabarrus College.

“We are communicating this information to all our prospective students and to high school guidance counselors in the region. We want prospective students to plan now so they will be prepared to meet these new requirements” said Mark Ellison, director of admissions.
