the year, students have social functions that are planned by various
student groups. Many cultural and educational opportunities are
available in Concord, Charlotte, and other surrounding cities.
Nearby Wingate
University, Davidson College, Catawba College, UNC-Charlotte and
Pfeiffer University schedule lectures, programs and social functions,
many of which are open to the public, that students may attend.
Cabarrus Arts Council is also active in the college community,
funding a myriad of programs including but not limited to: The
Old Courthouse Theatre, Cabarrus Women's Ensemble, Share Cabarrus
Festival, Genesis II Choir and much more. The Salisbury area also
offers student discounts for the Salisbury Symphony and Piedmont
Players performances.
Community resources are available to interested students for instruction
in hobbies and crafts as well as resources for physical activities
which are available for the students enjoyment. These include basketball,
tennis, softball, volleyball, soccer, swimming, aerobics and much
more.

NorthEast Health and Fitness Institute offers several levels of
membership to students. The division located on the main campus
of NEMC offers free opportunities to exercise with a variety of
cardiovascular fitness equipment. Application to this facility
is available by completing the Personal Wellness Profile. Students
are also eligible to attend a myriad of classes including, but
not limited to, physical activity, mental fitness, prevention of
sports injuries, diet and nutrition and free health screenings
offered at various times of the year.
