About Me
Mrs. Brown is originally from the middle Georgia area. She attended the University of Georgia, and graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia School of Nursing. She began her nursing career as a staff nurse in the Neuro ICU. Within a year of full time nursing, she began to precept new graduates and fell in love with education.
She spent several years working in Neurotrauma ICU and Medical ICU, as well as working as part time clinical faculty. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from Duke University and began to teach full time, while continuing to work PRN at the bedside. She credits many mentors along the way (nursing faculty, charge nurses, clinical nurse specialists) for her success, and is grateful for the opportunity she has with students.
Mrs. Brown’s first love is her role as a nurse, but education is her passion. She strives to support students in their development into lifelong professionals who are the change agents of our future. She is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) as awarded by the National League of Nursing, and she has received the Cabarrus College of Health Sciences Excellence in Education award. Mrs. Brown enjoys spending time with her husband and their active children.
