About Me
Heather Hodges is a dedicated surgical technology professional and educator with a strong commitment to advancing healthcare education and patient care. She earned her Associate of Science in Surgical Technology, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences Leadership and Development, and later a Master of Science in Health Sciences, all from Cabarrus College of Health Sciences. These academic achievements reflect her deepening expertise in healthcare leadership and education.
Heather began her clinical career at Atrium Health Cabarrus, where she served for eight years as a surgical technologist and General Surgery Coordinator. In 2019, she transitioned to Gateway Ambulatory Surgery Center, where she continued to demonstrate her dedication to excellence in surgical services and patient outcomes. Heather joined the Surgical Technology program at Cabarrus College in 2021.
Her passion for the profession extends well beyond the clinical setting. Heather has served on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina State Assembly of the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST), including two terms as President. She is also a former member of the AST State Assembly Leadership Committee. She contributes to the advancement of certification standards and professional development through her current role on the Exam Review Committee for Certified Surgical Technologists (ERC-CST) with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
Heather maintains active certification in surgical technology through NBSTSA. Outside of her professional endeavors, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her dogs.
