About Me

Dr. Sophia Miranda, with over 15 years of expertise in the Healthcare, Higher Education, and Research arena, is a distinguished leader within her field.  In the academic sphere, Dr. Miranda has been imparting knowledge and training, and currently serves as the Program Chair of the Master of Science in Health Sciences program, in addition to serving as an Associate Professor across other disciplines within the College. Her academic experiences have provided her with the skills to effectively deliver academic programs, oversee and manage faculty and students as well as teach leadership, education, and research courses.

Holding a Doctor of Education (Ed.D) in Organizational Leadership from Grand Canyon University, she has significantly contributed to the development and management of clinical research education, compliance, and operations within a major healthcare system. She excels in overseeing staff, ensuring adherence to GCP guidelines and FDA regulations, and leading onsite audits of clinical research trials. Her contributions extend to the creation and implementation of  guidelines, policies, SOPs, and work plans.

Dr. Miranda serves on many academic and non-academic committees, such as the CRO Curriculum Subcommittee for the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, the Graduate Education Steering Committee and the Professional Development Committee at Cabarrus College of Health Sciences. Prior to these roles, Dr. Miranda, has held several research  positions and has also led leadership trainings for schools and businesses as a certified leadership trainer. She has also served as a panelist for a psychology symposium and has presented at the collegiate level. In addition, Dr. Miranda is currently working on journal publications and has published articles in the Journal of Scholarly Engagement and in the Journal of Management Development.

Dr. Sophia Miranda is originally from New York City; however, she has lived in North Carolina for over a decade and now calls North Carolina her home.
