About Me
Scott S. Smith, Ed.D. brings over 30 years of experience in education, technology, and leadership across both K-12 and higher education. Before joining Cabarrus College of Health Sciences, he served as Chief Operations Officer, Assistant Superintendent, and Chief Technology Officer in Mooresville Graded School District (MGSD), where he oversaw operations such as technology, transportation, facilities, school safety, before and after school and school nutrition. He played a central role in Mooresville’s nationally recognized digital conversion, leading the district’s 1:1 student device initiative and professional development programs that became a model for technology integration across the country.
Dr. Smith has also taught graduate and doctoral courses at Appalachian State and Wingate universities, focusing on instructional design, leadership, and technology integration. He has served in leadership roles with professional organizations such as the North Carolina Technology in Education Society (NCTIES), the North Carolina Consortium of School Networking (NCCoSN). A lifelong advocate for student-centered learning, he is passionate about using innovation to support both students and educators. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, mentoring future leaders, and staying active in his community.
