Before you get started, we recommend that you attend a virtual information sessioncampus visit day or schedule a private one-on-one meeting with an admissions coordinator.  This is not an admission requirement but is strongly recommended as the best way to learn about Cabarrus College and our academic programs.


Application Requirements

For admission into the Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging program, applicants must meet the general college admissions requirements found in the Catalog and submit:

  • Students must hold credentials in a primary imaging modality prior to entering the BSMI program. Lifetime experience credit is available for technologists who hold advanced ARRT credentials in Mammography, CT, MRI, Bone Densitometry, and Quality Management. Some programs that hold articulation agreements with the BSMI program may have separate admission criteria.
  • An official transcript from an accredited program showing an earned Associate Degree or equivalent diploma in a primary imaging sciences discipline, with a preferred cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.
  • Current, active registry or registry eligible status with ARRT
  • Two (2) Professional References on college Reference Form; one from a current supervisor or imaging faculty member
  • Applicants who hold a hospital-based diploma certification must show evidence of 15 semester credit hours of 100-200 General Education coursework, with at least one course from each of the below categories. Should the applicant lack any of these General Education courses, the courses may be completed at Cabarrus College as a non-degree student, at another institution prior to entering Cabarrus College, or partially at another institution and the rest completed at Cabarrus College.

Application Dates

We accept applications on a rolling basis until programs are full, with priority given to applications received by:

  • January 1: for fall enrollment.
  • October 1: for spring enrollment.

North Carolina Forgivable Education Loans for Service (FELS)

For students who are North Carolina residents and committed to working in critical employment shortage professions in North Carolina.

  • Full-time students eligible for $3,000 to $10,000 loan, depending on program.

Application Process

Please be aware that only complete applications will be processed. The instructions below will help you to submit a complete application.

  1. Apply - Apply online.

    Nonrefundable Application Fee: $50

    If you are an Atrium Health teammate or a graduate of Cabarrus College or Carolinas College, fill out our Fast Track Application (NO application fee, NO essay, NO references). Choose "Fast Track Application" from the drop-down menu. Enter FASTTRACK to waive the application fee.

  2. Send your transcripts - Send your transcripts and proof of an Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology or any other Primary Imaging Sciences, with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above. To complete your admission file, we require official transcripts from all colleges you have previously attended. Official transcripts can be sent via mail or electronically to documents@cabarruscollege.edu.

  3. Submit - Submit a copy of active credentials with AART. AART status can be sent via fax or electronically to documents@cabarruscollege.edu.

  4. Submit 2 professional references - Submit two professional references using the reference form. Forms can be sent to us via mail, email or fax.

  5. Log in to view the application status - Please allow 48 hours for your application to be processed. Once the application has been processed by the admissions team, the applicant will receive a welcome email. This will instruct you on how to log into the applicant portal to review the application status and checklist for admissions.
